Mintier Harnish, Sacramento, CA – (Salary: Highly competitive; commensurate with education and experience) – Mintier Harnish is hiring at least two planners, one entry level planner and one experienced planner, to work with cities and counties throughout California as part of our highly-skilled planning team. Founded in 1985, Mintier Harnish is a northern California planning consulting firm specializing in land use planning, including general plans, housing elements, specific plans, zoning codes, objective design standards, and special planning studies. We are a small firm with a great working atmosphere and unlimited opportunity to excel. Our office is located within the Sacramento grid in a historic 1890s Midtown Sacramento Victorian and within walking distance of dozens of outstanding restaurants and bars, and wide range of housing opportunities.

Because we are a small firm, motivated self-starters will excel and find professional fulfillment with us. Project management and public outreach experience, creativity, and analytical aptitude are highly desirable. Critical thinking is essential. We are looking for people who can step into a position of responsibility and play an important role on major planning projects, whether as a project manager or planning support.

Project Manager

The Project Manager position requires familiarity with local governmental organizations and procedures, California planning law, CEQA, planning and environmental theory and practice, and excellent research and writing skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign), Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, and ArcMap GIS is required. Experience in general plan and specific plan preparation is desirable. Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in planning or closely-related field and at least three years of planning-related experience, or a Bachelors degree in planning or closely-related field and at least five years of planning-related experience.

Planner

The Planner position requires an understanding of local governmental organizations and procedures, California planning law, planning and environmental theory and practice, and excellent research and writing skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign), Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, and ArcMap GIS is required. Experience in general plan and zoning code preparation is desirable but not required. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in planning or closely-related field and experience as a planning intern during college. A Master’s degree in planning or closely related field is preferred.
